God and Infinity

Graham Oppy, Monash Research Fund Project Grant 2001-02.

The aims of this project are: (1) to investigate a range of fundamental issues about the infinite that crop up across a broad range of philosophical domains; and (2) to apply the results of this investigation in the examination of some particular topics in the philosophy of religion. In particular, the second part of the project will be concerned with the role that considerations about the infinite play in arguments for the existence of God, and in discussions of the divine attributes. The first part of the project will be concerned with issues that arise when one considers the possibility of physically instantiated infinities of diverse kinds.
