Liberty vs. Security: A Necessary Trade Off?

Monash University in partnership with Victoria Police is conducting a forum in April, examining the legislative and policy environment relevant to counter-terrorist policing.

The free forum titled 'Liberty vs. Security: A Necessary Trade Off?', will be held at Monash Law Chambers in Melbourne, and is being conducted by Monash's School of Political and Social Inquiry as part of the three-year joint project, 'Counter-terrorism policing and culturally diverse communities'

Joining forces to counter terrorism

Members of the Global Terrorism Research Centre are working with Victoria Police to develop counter-terrorism measures involving community consultation.

The project involves Associate Professor Sharon Pickering, Dr Jude McCulloch and Dr Pete Lentini from GTRC, police, and an advisory committee that includes representatives of media, government and community organisations including the Australian Multicultural Foundation.
