The Australian and New Zealand Critical Criminology Conference
July 8 & 9, 2009Monash University Law Chambers, 472 Bourke Street, Melbourne.Monash Criminology in the School of Political and Social Inquiry was proud to host the third annual Australian and New Zealand Critical Criminology Conference.. Critical criminology is a diverse and expanding field of inquiry that defies a single definition. However broadly this field of scholarship attends to crime, crime control and knowledge production within the context of shifting cultural, economic, social and political conditions. Critical criminology examines issues of crime and justice beyond the traditional and established boundaries of the criminological discipline. This conference provided a platform for engagement with groundbreaking and thought-provoking research and analysis in this field. The conference followed on from the success of the first two critical criminology conferences held in 2007 and 2008. The 2009 Australian and New Zealand Critical Criminology Conference was not be based on any particular theme, enabling conference participants the opportunity to present work of interest within the broad area of critical criminology.
