Institute for Public History
The role of the Institute for Public History is to increase awareness of the work of academic historians, to strengthen the links between historians inside and outside the university, and to create closer ties between the School of Historical Studies, alumni, and a wider, interested public. The Institute for Public History does this through its Annual Public Lecture, Commissioned Histories,Public Lecture Series, History Walks and Conferences and Symposia as well as by informing the wider public about Current research in the School of Historical Studies.

What are the approaches and issues in making migrant community histories? Over the past ten years, the Community Gallery at Victoria's Immigration Museum has worked with over 54 groups to record, create and display their community's migration history, whether they came to Victoria 5 years or 150 years ago.
