Information for 2009 postgraduate research scholarship applicants
Monash University offers an extensive scholarship program to both local and international students enrolled in degrees classified as research. The Faculty and various academic units of the Faculty offer students support through scholarships and grants.
A strong academic record is required to be competitive for one of these scholarships. All research students with an honours H1 degree or the equivalent may apply for a range of research scholarships. In addition, the Australian government and international bodies offer scholarships for students wishing to study for a research degree.

University Scholarships
The University holds a scholarship round in December each year, through which most scholarships are awarded. Applications must be submitted by 31 October. Application kits may be obtained from academic units (Schools and Centres) from mid-July each year. By this stage, applicants should have discussed their proposed research project with the supervisor in the relevant academic unit. Ideally, before a scholarship application is submitted, applicants will have identified a potential supervisor for their project and developed a draft research proposal.
