Recent Projects

Transition to water sensitive urban design: the story of Melbourne, Australia. This report was launched in July 2007 based on research undertaken by researchers in the School of Geography and Environmental Science and funded by the Victorian Government's Science, Technology and Innovation Initiative. The research mapped the transformation of Melbourne's storm-water quality management from traditional practice to a more sustainable, water sensitive urban design approach. The report identifies key institutional ingredients experienced in Melbourne over the last forty years that have enabled innovation and sustainable technology adoption in urban storm-water management. The researcher will present her findings to the Dutch Ministry for Public Works and Water as part of its new National Water Management Policy for 2009.
