How to apply - domestic
You are a domestic (Australian) student if you are:
- an Australian citizen
- an Australian permanent resident
- a holder of Australian permanent humanitarian visa
- a New Zealand citizen
If you're planning on studying DoTS in 2013, you need to register and apply online through VTAC – the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre.
Already applied through VTAC? If you have already applied for courses through VTAC you can add DoTS to your list of course preferences, see VTAC making changes. If you miss the VTAC deadlines for change of preference and want to be considered for a DoTS offer you may be able to apply for a negotiated offer.
Missed VTAC application deadlines? If you have missed all VTAC application deadlines you can apply directly to Monash. Direct applications will only be considered if there are places still available at the completion of the VTAC process.
Apply through VTAC
VTAC applications open for 2013 on Monday 6 August at 9am. For VTAC application dates see VTAC important dates.
When you complete the VTAC application you'll be asked for the course code of the campus where your chosen DoTS stream is offered. The DoTS VTAC course codes are as follows:

Please note:
- All applicants must complete and submit a Monash University Supplementary Information Form by 21 December 2012. Applicants who miss this deadline must complete and submit a hardcopy Supplementary Information Form by:
Thursday 3 January 2013 - for applications to be considered for VTAC round 1
Thursday 31 January 2013 - for applications to be considered for VTAC round 2 - *Visual and Media Arts (VTAC course code 30611) applicants must telephone 03 5122 6261 or 03 9902 6261 to book a folio interview.
Apply for a VTAC negotiated offer
If you are a VTAC applicant, you can apply for a negotiated offer for DoTS, if DoTS is:
- lower on your list of course preferences than the offer you receive; or
- not listed as one of your course preferences.
To apply for a negotiated offer for DoTS, follow the steps below. (Applications open after VTAC Round 1 offers are released, see VTAC important dates).
- Check you meet DoTS entry requirements.
- Check there are places still available. If yes, contact us on 03 5122 6339 or 03 9902 6339 to advise that you wish to be considered for a negotiated offer.
- Complete the VTAC negotiated-offer request in your VTAC user account.
- Download and complete the DoTS Supplementary Information Form and return by Thursday 31 January 2013 or as advised when you contacted us in step 2.

Apply directly
Direct applications will only be considered if there are places still available at the completion of the VTAC process.
Direct applications for 2013 open on Thursday 17 January and close on Wednesday 6 February. To apply, follow the steps below.
- Check you meet DoTS entry requirements.
- Download and complete a DoTS Direct Application Form.
- Download and complete a DoTS Supplementary Information Form.
- Have your supporting documentation (see below) certified. For information about certification of documents, see the front page of the DoTS Direct Application Form.
- Academic qualification(s) (eg VCE ATAR document, VCE Statement of Results).
- Proof of identification/citizenship (eg birth certificate, passport, Australian certificate of citizenship).
- Change of name documentation (eg change of name certificate or marriage certificate) (if applicable).
- Return your application, certified supporting documents and supplementary information form to the address on the front page of the DoTS Direct Application form.
