Biography
Carol Altmann is an experienced print journalist having spent almost 20 years working for regional, suburban, metropolitan and national newspapers.
After covering South Australian politics for The Advertiser (Adelaide), Carol became Chief-of-Staff for the Messenger Newspaper group, Adelaide, before being recruited as the South Australian Bureau Chief and South Australian political reporter for The Australian.
She also worked as Tasmanian Bureau Chief for The Australian and later as political reporter for The Independent Weekly, Adelaide. In 2007, Carol became Media Manager for the University of Tasmania before relocating to Victoria and joining Monash University in 2009.
Carol is the author of After Port Arthur, published by Allen & Unwin in 2006 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Port Arthur massacre. This book was shortlisted in the top 10 books for the 2006 Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
She also received a Sunflower Award in 2002 for her coverage of mental health issues in South Australia.
