Master of Applied Social Research
Start of year and mid-year intake available This postgraduate course, offered full-time over 18 months or part-time over 36 months, provides advanced training in theoretical and practical skills about the processes involved in social research. It is specifically designed for those who will design, conduct and evaluate various social research projects. It is also intended to extend the skills of policy administrators who analyse research reports, formulate commissioned research projects and work together with staff researchers and/or outside consultants. Most units in this course are taught at the centrally-located Caulfield campus. The Master of Applied Social Research degree is usually completed in eighteen months of full-time study or up to three years of part-time study. Students initially undertake four 12 point units to the value of 48 points at fourth year level. Students may exit the program with the Graduate Certificate in Applied Social Research having successfully completed an approved 24 point program of two units of study, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Social Research having successfully completed an approved 48 point program of four units of study . To proceed to fifth year a credit average in the fourth year units is required. To qualify for the Master of Applied Social Research degree students then complete an additional 24 point program of two units of study at the fifth year level.
