Theatre and Performance 2006 Season

Antigone

Photo: Antigone

By Sophocles. Directed and Adapted by Peter Oyston

“This new adaption of Sophocles’ Antigone is fresh and accessible - in its language and political ideas. The issues of political arrogance and the creation of unfair laws to increase the power of government are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago. In Ancient Greece, Antigone’s fight for justice and honour could be one that happens here and now in our own society.” - Peter Oyston, February 1, 2006

This is the first production of the Graduate Ensemble of the Centre for Drama & Theatre Studies. A debate on the major themes explored in this piece, facilitated by Peter Oyston, will be held immedately after the matinee performance.
