Study Abroad in Women's Studies
We'd like to encourage you to consider a Study Abroad semester during your degree. All Monash students can incorporate a semester (or two) of study at an overseas university as part their academic program. Most students who participate in the Study Abroad program receive a grant from Monash International to assist them financially. You can check out the scheme at http://www.monash.edu.au/international/studyabroad/current/.
You can choose to go to any of the universities listed as Partner Institutions for Study Abroad, but we know that students sometimes find it difficult selecting a university overseas where they can take Women's Studies options during their Study Abroad semester(s). To simplify things, we have identified a range of suitable partner institutions overseas where you can take Women's Studies or Gender Studies options and where we think you will have a positive exchange experience. These are institutions that Women's Studies staff from Monash have contacted to discuss Study Abroad opportunities. In some cases we have visited also these institutions.

University of Vienna (Universität Wien) in Austria
Here you can find information on the Gender Studies Program at the University of Vienna. There isn't a free-standing Gender Studies major, but gender is a thematic in units offered in other programs. Units are offered in English (especially in the English Dept) and in German. The web information is generally in German only, so we recommend you seek hard copy information in English from Monash Abroad staff (990 58927).
